The latest international destination where Bell has lowered the cost of voice and data roaming for consumers

MONTRÉAL, March 28, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today announced it has reduced the cost of mobile data voice and data roaming for customers travelling in Japan. The latest example of Bell's commitment to lower roaming prices for Canadian consumers, these Japan rate reductions follow similar decreases for the United States, Europe, Mexico, China, Australia and New Zealand, Bermuda, and Cuba and most other Caribbean islands.

"Bell is focused on cutting the cost of mobile roaming in the countries Canadians travel to the most, and we're happy to add Japan to the list with great new rates on mobile voice and data plans for consumers travelling there," said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility.

For data users, the new $30 Zone 1 Travel Data Pass for Japan includes 50 Megabytes (MB) of Internet and other data access, an increase of 30 MB and a reduction in the per-MB rate to 60 cents from the previous price of $40 for 20 MB. The enhanced $100 Travel Data Pass now includes 200 MB, up from 50 MB previously. Travel Data Passes offer usage monitoring and alerts, and can be purchased before or during travel with the Bell Mobility self-serve app.

For voice calling, the new $30 package for Japan offers 60 minutes of calling (previously $40 for 50 minutes) while a new $45 voice and text bundle provides 60 minutes of voice, unlimited incoming texts and 200 sent messages (previously $60 for 50 minutes and 200 sent messages).

The cost of pay-per-use roaming in Japan has also dropped 33%, now $2 a minute for voice and $8 per MB of data. For more about Bell mobile roaming rates in Japan and more than 200 other countries, please visit
